So exciting, isn’t it, Rachel Nichols fans?

This is big news for you Rachel Nichols fans out there – she is joining Turner Broadcasting System Inc.’s two divisions – CNN and Turner Sports.
After being at ESPN for nine years, the 33-year-old is expected to host a weekend sports show on CNN that is scheduled to start later this year and will cover a number of sports.
But the big question for her fans is “will she be in New Orleans to report on the Super Bowl on Feb. 3?”  The answer is “yes”.  That assignment will be her first with CNN sports.
Industry watchers are saying that her move to Turner Sports is the result of the new president of CNN Worldwide, Jeff Zucker’s vision to make the news channel “vibrant and exciting”.  CNN has been struggling in recent times for its share of viewers.  Many feel that the Rachel Nichols announcement is just the beginning of changes there.  Nichols says she “couldn’t be more excited” to join CNN.

During her time with ESPN, Rachel Nichols was a contributor to many shows such as: NFL Countdown, SportsCenter and NBA Countdown as well as being a reporter for Monday Night Football.

She is also well known for her tenacious coverage of the Brett Favre sex scandals.  The biggest joke going around is which network will break the news if Favre comes out of retirement?  The smart money is on CNN and Rachel.
CNN’s sports coverage includes Major League Baseball, NBA, NCAA Division 1 basketball, NASCAR and the PGA.

Rachel Nichols was born in Maine and began modeling in the 1990s before moving into acting both in movies and on television.  She is known for a major part in the movie “Dumb and Dumber” and even had a role in one episode of “Sex and the City”.   Her first starring role was in P2 and she currently has a lead role as Kiera Cameron in the sci-fi show Continuum which will continue into 2013.
Rachel Nichols attended Columbia University and planned a career in finance, but she was spotted by a modeling agent one day and joined the modeling profession.  Rachel did graduate with double majors in math and economics and actually paid her tuition with her modeling wages.  She was married to Scott Struber a movie producer in July 2008 in Colorado, but they separated in February 2009 due to irreconcilable differences.

God bless you!
