Ashley Judd Runs for Senate

The concept of celebrities running for office is nothing new, look at the "governator" in Cali, Arnold.  Or Clint Eastwood.  Or Ronald Reagan.  However, there haven’t been many cases of current high profile celebrities wanting to run out, but a recent rumor puts one of them in the thick of it.
Ashley Judd

Ashley Judd has been rumored to be considering running for Kentucky Senator against the very popular and seasoned Republican governor, Mitch McConnell.

Ashley Judd is the daughter of Naomi Judd who is a famous country singer. She is most famous for her acting roles in television and movies. Her breakout roles were in Heat, and A Time to Kill which she was critically acclaimed for. With more movies in the '90s such as Kiss the Girls and Double Jeopardy solidified her status as a serious actress. She has since been in several films with some of them flopping, but reportedly was paid a hefty salary for her most recent romantic comedy.

There has been a lot of buzz about this in the past few weeks, and if Ashley Judd wants to run in 2014 then now would be the time to prepare.

The news that Ashley Judd recently considered running for Kentucky Senate against Mitch McConnell took a few people by surprise. The actress is thinking about it seriously in 2014 and would run opposing the current Republican Senator. According to POLITICO Judd has actually had a conversation with New York senator Kirsten Gillibrand about this very thing. While there isn’t any doubt that Judd would bring a lot of attention to the race in Kentucky;  the state is predominantly red, so no matter who runs against him it might be difficult to beat the Republican Senator.

Ashley Judd would clearly be looked at as a liberal candidate and that would work against her.

This will be the sixth upcoming term for Mitch McConnell and the Democrats know they will have a tough time getting people to vote against him. They think Judd would be a good candidate to not only bring star quality to the race, but raise lots of money towards her campaign. Famous people tend to do well in politics simply because they are famous.
Ashley doesn’t have any experience in politics, and while Democrats think it would be good for them they are also concerned because she no longer lives in Kentucky despite being born there. The fact that if she won she would simply be chosen for her star status is painfully obvious. She has houses in Scotland and Tennessee, but she did graduate from the University of Kentucky and still attends the games there.
God bless you!
